The European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief, Kaja Kallas, has said that Israel must stop killing civilians in Gaza who are gathering at aid distribution points.
On X, Ms. Kallas called the actions “indefensible,” adding that she had spoken with her counterpart, Gideon Saar.
A spokesperson for the EU also condemned attacks against the World Health Organization (WHO), after the agency said its facilities had been targeted.
“Channels are open and pressure is actually being put on the Israeli counterpart, so time is of the essence,” EU spokesperson Anouar El Anouni said.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen joined calls for the killing to end, writing that “The images from Gaza are unbearable,” and “Civilians in Gaza have suffered too much, for too long. It must stop now. Israel must deliver on its pledges.”
